Here we go!

Greetings friends!  Well, the time has finally come.  Off we go to Mexico! What started as a glint in the eye of the County Commissioner some years ago, has now developed into a reality which kicks off tomorrow.  After months, nay, years of preparing, asking questions, meeting up for pow-wows, coffee mornings in freezing churches, lengthy discussions about t-shirts, e-mailing Dave the long-suffering travel agent, a million e-mails to the group yahoo account, intense clothing discussions, health form discussions, kit list discussions, an e-ticket frenzy, and a great deal of cake-based refreshment, we are finally there, and just about ready to check-in.

A group of 26 adults are bound for Our Cabaña, the WAGGGS World Centre in Mexico.  We are flying direct to Mexico tomorrow afternoon, then spending a couple of days acclimatising in Mexico City, then heading to Our Cabaña on Wednesday for six days of their 'Pick N Mix' programme, where we will take part in a jam-packed programme of activities, learning about WAGGGS (that's the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts), engaging in a local service project, undertaking excursions to places of interest, and spending time in the Central American World Centre, meeting Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world and much more.

The preparation has been intruiging.  We are a very diverse group, of every conceivable age and background, with a whole mixture of Guiding experiences, locally and abroad.  We are going to Our Cabaña for all sorts of different reasons, and have been looking forward to the trip for a very long time.

Do check my blog, for details of what we get up to.
